About
I’m Teneille Nel, a biogeochemistry postdoc at the University of Antwerp. Working within the ROC-MICS project, I research how enhanced rock weathering (ERW) impacts soil carbon dynamics, microbial communities, and long-term storage. My work focuses on carbon-climate feedbacks and developing innovative carbon removal strategies for agricultural soils. Previously, I investigated soil carbon dynamics in ancient buried soils of the Great Plains (Nebraska) and have conducted research on organic–inorganic carbon transformations in termite-affected soils of South Africa. My work spans quantitative spectroscopy, soil geochemical analysis, and modelling of organic matter turnover — always with a focus on understanding the drivers of carbon storage and persistence in the Earth system. My passion for biogeochemistry and soil conservation grows from the deep conviction that everything we have, has been given.
